Comprised of Kotter’s most essential change leadership courses, the Kotter Core Change Certification Program offers an intensive education into Kotter’s methodology and underlying frameworks. Bridging the gap from theory to application, Kotter’s Core Change Certification Program helps you to create the conditions for success and supports your on-the-job efforts to lead and manage change. This four-course program deepens your understanding of how to more effectively navigate through complexity, uncertainty, and volatility.

Beginning with the first course, the journey to Kotter Change Certification involves an in-depth exploration of the Science of Change, with an emphasis on each of the 8 Accelerators for Leading Change. You’ll get access to Kotter experts, rich stories and case studies, interactive activities and exercises, and a trove of practical resources to help you as you lead change.

Course 1. Foundations of Change | The Art + Science Behind Successful Transformation

Discover the Science of Change, including:

  • Our understanding of human nature and our response to threats and opportunities

  • The limitations of traditional organizational structures

  • Kotter’s research on effective strategies, principles, and tactics for leading complex change

Learn how you can apply Kotter’s 8 Accelerators and 4 Core Change Principles to dramatically increase your chances of success as you lead change.

Course 2. Engaging Stakeholders to Spark a Movement | Igniting Urgency + Building a Guiding Coalition

A Sense of Urgency is arguably the most critical – and often under-leveraged – ingredient in both inspiring and sustaining change. Learn how to create true urgency, and practice how to keep people on board and energized about your change. Then explore how to identify, recruit, engage, and equip a set of people to serve as your Guiding Coalition – spearheading the coordination of efforts over the course of your change.

Course 3. Selling Your Case for Change | Shaping a Vision + Gaining Buy-in

How do you paint a compelling picture of the future, and how do you help people see what will need to be done in order to make that vision a reality? Most importantly, how do you get them bought into this vision so they are inspired to help?

Learn how to craft an inspiring vision, and practice techniques that will allow you to win over even the biggest skeptics by more effectively navigating the objections they throw at you.

Course 4. Essential Change Toolkit | Removing Barriers to Enable Action

Barriers to change exist across systems and processes as well as culturally through mindsets, behaviors, and actions. Learn how to identify barriers to change – both the immediate and the persistent – and what you can do to remove those barriers so that you and others are empowered to act more effectively.

* If you hold a change certification from another accredited organization, you may qualify to test out of this course for credit toward your Kotter Change Certification.

After the Course

Completion Badge

In recognition of the change leadership skills you acquire through the program, the Kotter Core Change Certification earns you the designation of Kotter Certified Change Specialist and qualifies you to credibly apply the Kotter methodology to your own work leading change.

Upon successful completion of all four courses in the program and your demonstration of understanding of the content, you will receive a verified badge that you can share on LinkedIn, in your email signature, and on your CV. Your badge will be unique to you and will be verified by Credly.
